Abstract

We have explored Support Vector Machines (SVM) as pattern classificators in Bioinformatics. SVM has been applied to problems in Molecular Biology -- the automatic classification of mouse chromosomes, regulatory sequences in a plant and predicting protein secondary structure. The results that we obtained are very promising compared to the results by other machine learning Techniques.
